Intro

The distance learning changes. The new tendencies in e-education emerge. Students demand of high-quality education more and more. Knowledge level and the rate of their renovation constantly go up. New information technologies and modern ways of teaching with help of well qualified staff can guarantee such high level of education quality. The Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality have most influence on the distance education development in the latter years. Using of these technologies gives to teachers an opportunity to improve the ways of knowledge delivering to the distant student. Is there any limit for using emerging technologies? What is the real influence of them on DE? Is there success story of new information technologies using in DE? Scientists, teachers, tutors, educational content developers will have an opportunity to discuss these and some other very important questions of philosophy, theory, methods, didactics, and practice of distance and virtual education in the framework of ten anniversary conference "Education and Virtuality" (VIRT-2011).

Mission

The mission of the VIRT International Conference is to bring knowledge and experience relating to computer based/assisted learning and training, contemporary and future theories and trends together in highly professional and comparative academic research forum. VIRT is an international refereed conference dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practical implementation of modern and emerging technologies in Distant and Virtual education.

Date and place

The conference will be held 19-23 of September 2011 on the Black Sea coast in European University Branch, Yalta, Crimea Region, Ukraine.

The topics of interest include but are not limited to:

Conference Languages

Working languages are Russian and English.

Proceedings

All papers accepted for the conference will be published in the proceedings. The Proceedings of the Education and Virtuality International Conference (VIRT08) will be published by the Ukrainian Association for Distant Education in a book (ISSN 1993-405X).

Best Paper Award

Author(s) of best papers will receive one of VIRT08 awards and certificate of achievement and contribution to research within the subject area of the paper.
